Role Summary

The Manager, Seattle Station Training is responsible for executing the strategy for employee onboarding, and initial and recurrent training at the Seattle station for Alaska Airlines (AS). As a people leader, this position leads and establishes priorities for the station leadership and training teams dedicated to the development and mentoring of new hires and experienced employees alike. This role serves as the subject matter expert in training content development and delivery and station policies and procedures.

Key Duties

  • Execute the strategy for the entire lifecycle of training for over 800 station employees, including hiring, onboarding, initial on-the-job training of new employees, advanced training and skills development, and recurrent.

  • Lead team of station leaders and trainers, establishing priorities for training content development and delivery.

  • Make decisions related to station policies and procedures, in partnership with Airport Operations and Customer Service (AOCS) Policy and Procedures and Training Development and Delivery teams.

  • Delegate and assign oversight of the station probationary process, including management of supervisor probationary evaluations.

  • Influence across all teams at the station to support operational performance through training, coaching, and development of job support aids.

  • Monitor, analyze, track, and report on data related to station attrition and training, including exit surveys and training qualification compliance, partnering with other key senior leaders to make decisions.

  • Contribute to the long-term strategy, planning, and execution for employee and labor relations at the station, including employee engagement and performance management, discipline, and contract grievance processes.

  • Cultivate exceptional working relationships with IAM representatives within the station and partner on addressing concerns, ensuring consistent adherence to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management.

  • Drive effective diversity, equity and inclusion practices to build a culture of belonging while actively supporting and executing on the company’s D&I initiatives, goals and commitments.

  • Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience in airport operations and/or training experience.

  • 2 years of leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Excellent communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.

  • Superior presentation skills.

  • Willingness and ability to work in multiple areas of the organization.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to create collaborative relationships with others in the organization as well as key external business partners.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Experience in training content development and delivery.

  • Previous teaching experience.

Airport SIDA Badge Requirements

Important notification for employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar: Employees will be required to obtain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority and maintain good standing in order to keep their SIDA badge. Review theSIDA Badge Requirementsdocument for a comprehensive overview. If an employee does not qualify for a SIDA badge or has their SIDA badge pulled from them, the employee will be terminated.

Salary Range

$113,200 - $169,800 / year

Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)

$124,520 - $186,780

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
