Role Summary

This role will lead a team of Catering Operations Regional Managers and/or Principals that are responsible for overseeing the operational reliability of our catering partners. As a people leader, this role will lead and establish priorities for a team responsible for holding catering partners accountable to providing a safe, on-time and accurate service delivery. This critical leader oversees strategic relationships with major caterers and partners cross- functionally to build and execute plans that deliver critical guest products and Flight Attendant tools.

Key Duties

  • Leads team of individual contributors that are responsible for holding caterers accountable to performance metrics internal to Alaska & Hawaiian as well as outlined in catering services agreements

  • Drives and influences change at caterers where there is need for corrective action or process improvement

  • Accountable for continuous improvement of catering operational performance, accuracy, safety and quality with catering business partners and stakeholders

  • Leads a team that manages Flight Attendant catering feedback programs to ensure catering quality feedback from crew is captured, reviewed and actioned.

  • Leads and facilitates change management initiatives for team that includes menu changes and new station/catering location startups

  • Supports supplier management by contributing to RFP requirements and processes, safeguarding proper KPI monitoring as well as the application of incentives and penalties, and making recommendations for evolution of performance monitoring program

  • Makes timely, data-driven operational decisions to meet dependability goals while balancing customer impact and operational needs

  • Able to lead and contribute to various cross-departmental and functional teams on operational and strategic initiatives

  • Ensures caterers and team are compliant with regulatory safety and health requirements as well as internal compliance standards

  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback; focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, developing the team to be able to handle changes in work load as the airline grows, looking at performance across the team, and time management

  • Shape culture of team through action, presence and reinforcement of behaviors

  • Willing to travel up to 50% to support operational and strategic initiatives

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience in airline operational leadership, operations management, supply chain management, supplier performance, project management, safety management or related industry

  • 2 years of leadership experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree

  • An open and inclusive leadership style, while providing direction and proven ability to drive change.

  • Ability to attract, develop, and retain key talent.

  • Track record of strong leadership, team-building and personnel management

  • Proven results driven leader with the ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Demonstrated ability to manage strategic initiatives where a financial justification is required

  • Demonstrated ability to present to executive leadership on operational performance and strategic topics requiring executive buy-in

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven change management skills by setting a strategy and driving direct reports to implement

  • Willing to travel up to 50% to support operational and strategic initiatives

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and SmartSheet

  • Minimum age of 18

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Airline catering, food and beverage or hospitality experience

  • Six Sigma or equivalent certifications

  • Advanced business degree

  • Strong working knowledge of World Food Safety Guidelines and HAACP compliance

  • Project management experience

Salary Range

$107,100 - $160,650 / year

Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)

$117,810 - $176,715

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
