Role Summary
The Manager, Accounts Payable is responsible for executing on the strategy for accounts payable for Alaska Air Group (AAG). As a people leader, the Manager, Accounts Payable leads and establishes priorities for the team regarding the entry of all payments and employee reimbursements for Alaska Air Group (AAG) accurately, timely, and in compliance with all internal, state and federal rules and regulations.
Key Duties
Leads multiple scopes and bodies of work within Accounts Payable, the Accounts Payable Supervisor and team, the Fuel team and the Accounting and Administrator functions.
Execute on strategy focused on the needs of the group, determining the direction the department should take and creating action plans to realize those goals, and develop business processes that create efficiency and reduce costs.
Recommend appropriate process improvements and/or financial systems enhancements and gain support and sponsorship from key leaders.
Responsible for monitoring and reporting the budgets department expenditures.
Make decisions as the subject-matter-expert of accounts payable with an understanding of best practices and GAAP, SOX, and internal controls.
Compile financial data to ensure the proper accounting treatment accounts payable transactions, in a compliant, complete, accurate, and timely manner.
Evaluate opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency of team duties while remaining compliant.
Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management.
Shape the culture of the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
5 years of experience in accounting, or relevant area.
2 years of leadership experience.
Bachelor’s degree, with a focus in accounting, finance or other related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent strategy, organizational, project management, interpersonal, leadership, and customer service skills.
High energy, positive presence along with top-notch written and verbal communication skills.
Innovative, resilient, fact-based and creative solutions-focused mindset, with ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a rapidly changing, collaborative environment.
Strong analytical skills and excellent problem-solving leveraging data to make decisions.
Demonstrated ability to influence and clearly communicate cross-divisionally, including company leaders.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with others throughout all levels in the organization and externally
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the business needs.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Direct supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to build positive and constructive relationships with direct reports.
Experience with PeopleSoft Financials and querying of relational databases.
Airline industry experience.
End-to-end Procure to Pay experience.
Experience leading union represented employees.

Salary Range
$113,200 - $169,800 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
