Role Summary
The Airport Operations Safety Analyst is responsible for analyzing and trending safety data to support the Airport Operations and Customer Service (AOCS) Safety Management System (SMS). As an individual contributor, this position supports Safety program activities for Alaska Airlines (AS) including developing solutions for process improvements for the AOCS Safety Program.
Key Duties
With limited direction, work independently to review irregularity reports, perform initial analysis, and escalate immediately when appropriate.
Conduct data analysis in conjunction with the Safety Management System (e.g. track, trend, and identify station and system performance patterns related to safety and compliance) and make recommendations on actions from that analysis.
Take initiative to create reports to support the AOCS division’s Safety Management System, to include creating presentations for safety report outs.
Maintain and update a database to collect and analyze safety and compliance data and exercise judgement to identify systemic trends of poor performance and non-compliance.
Administer tools for ad-hoc analysis as required.
Network with and maintain cooperative and constructive relationships with operational leaders.
Collaborate cross-functionally with other division analysts and liaisons for reporting and analysis of reports for further action.
Apply knowledge in our Safety Management Systems to serve as the safety liaison alternate for the division.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
2 years of experience in station operations, safety programs, data analysis, or related area.
Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to enhance both customer and employee satisfaction.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive outcomes in the best interest of the company.
Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with other teams and workgroups.
Detailed oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- Safety Management System training, including Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance.

Salary Range
$78,000 -- $114,600 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
