Role Summary

The Accounting Operations Analyst role solves routine to moderately complex accounts payable activities in support of Alaska Air Group (AAG). As an individual contributor, this role focuses on and supports the Accounts Payable Team through data mining and analysis, journal entries, account reconciliations, preparation of internal reports, preparation and management of rents and landing fee payments, and other duties as assigned.

Key Duties

  • Prepares and reconciles payments and accounts for rents and landing fees.

  • Partners closely with other departments to ensure correct billing rates and timely payment (ports/leases).

  • Prepares, organizes, and enters monthly journal entries for various transactions in accordance with department policies and procedures.

  • Prepares complete and accurate reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and monthly account balance fluctuation analyses.

  • Collaborates with 3rd party vendors and internal team(s) on statement audits, researching payment anomalies and coordinating corrections.

  • Supports the management team by analyzing problems and recommends solutions by applying knowledge and experience.

  • Conducts ad-hoc analyses and reporting in support of accounting operations initiatives.

  • Identifies and contributes to process improvement projects.

  • Supports accounting specialists with questions.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, or 2 years of experience in Procure to Pay with an emphasis on Accounts Payable, accounting, or related area.

  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SOX, and internal controls.

  • Ability to exercise good judgement, attention to detail, and analytical acumen for problem solving in daily activities and analysis.

  • A self-starter with the ability to set and balance priorities, work independently, and take ownership.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.

  • Strong organizational skills, working under tight deadlines with the ability to manage multiple tasks to completion.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to resolve and response to issues quickly.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook), particularly with Excel.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Airline industry experience.

  • Peoplesoft and Tableau experience.

  • Policy maintenance and enforcement experience.

Salary Range

$54,100 --- $75,700 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
