Role Summary

The Cargo Inside Sales Representative is a responsible for advancing the cargo sales initiatives at Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Air. As an individual contributor this role makes recommendations to enhancing customer relationships, managing and refining contracts, and effectively communicating new products and services to drive revenue growth.

Key Duties

  • With limited direction from supervisor, promotes and develops a brand preference for Alaska and Hawaiian cargo services.

  • Makes recommendations on team processes and procedures to enhance the promotion of Alaska and Hawaiian cargo services.

  • Take the initiative to develop solutions to complex booking issues for commercial shippers, ensuring smooth operations.

  • Makes recommendations on commercial contract process including building contract terms, driving contracts and related exhibits, and managing contract signatories. Issues addendums related to contract changes and networks with legal department for any contractual changes to verbiage.

  • Collaborates with pricing and revenue management teams and works closely with Operations, Cargo Network Support, and Cargo Call Center teams to assist with bookings, claims, service failures, and track/trace requests.

  • Takes the initiative to develop solutions to complex problems, such as optimizing cargo space utilization and improving booking accuracy.

  • Makes recommendations on process improvements and sales strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and revenue growth.

  • Apply professional concepts and industry methodologies to sales and service initiatives with limited direction from supervisors.

  • Assists with special projects as assigned.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 2 years of experience in sales, customer service or cargo sales.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in business, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Outstanding customer service skills, including the ability to diplomatically manage difficult customer service situations.

  • Ability to embrace challenges and different ways of thinking, as well as adapt to an ever-changing market environment.

  • Ability and willingness to work hours outside the conventional 9-5 M-F timeframe.

  • Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a demanding environment.

  • Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • 1 year of experience in aviation, logistics or freight forwarding.

  • 2 years of customer service experience.

  • Knowledge of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines products and services.

  • Knowledge of iCargo, Tableau and Salesforce.

Salary Range

$64,950 --- $97,450 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
