Program Summary

The Maintenance Technician Development Program is geared towards individuals who want to gain the skills needed to receive their Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) licenses. The program offers training, mentorship, and a defined path to starting a career with Horizon Air/Alaska Airlines. If accepted into the program, the individual signs an agreement to work for Horizon Air/Alaska Airlines for a minimum of 30 months after receiving their A&P licenses and starting at Horizon Air/Alaska Airlines.

Key Duties

  • Maintain in good standing with approved A&P school

  • Attend quarterly check-ins with assigned mentor/leader

  • Maintain good communication with the company on curriculum progress

  • Attend program specific meetings as scheduled

  • Commit to work for Horizon Air/Alaska Airlines for 2.5 years post program completion and sign an agreement confirming this requirement

  • Valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to and from the U.S. at the time you apply.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to consistently lift 70 pounds

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach and grasp.

  • Ability to work a variety of schedules to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance.

  • Ability to communicate in English

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum age of 18

  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
