Role Summary

The Lifecycle Marketing Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day, hands-on execution of lifecycle marketing programs in support of card program, loyalty objectives, and all program activities for Alaska Air Group (AAG) and its subsidiaries. This includes ownership of the campaign brief, maintenance, and quarterly review of automated and triggered communications across digital channels (email, SMS, push notifications, etc.). This individual contributor position should be passionate about process management, marketing execution planning, marketing technology tools, and analytics. They should be inherently curious with a high desire to try new things and search for answers.

Key Duties

  • Manages the day-to-day execution process for lifecycle communications including writing the lifecycle and email campaign briefs, selecting deployment dates, creating test plans, selecting target data and data sources, managing vendors through the execution process and owing the quality assurance of all outbound lifecycle and email campaigns.

  • Troubleshoots issues related to templates, list segmentation and other aspects of email execution, as required along with the campaign services team.

  • Conducts end to end quality assurance testing in lifecycle and email campaigns across the customer journey.

  • Partners with Loyalty team to gather requirements and ensures all requirements and functionality are met across all touchpoints.

  • Works with defined checklist and process to test content, links, external tracking, alt tags, and rendering accuracy to reduce the risk of errors.

  • Stays abreast of and recommends email marketing best practices with coding, design and testing of email campaigns.

  • Meets or exceeds team goals to grow revenue, increase loyalty, and drive guest engagement.

  • Provides reporting and analysis on campaign performance.

  • Ensures strategic recommendations are implemented.

  • Configures A/B, champion/challenger, and multi-variant test scenarios to optimize campaign and program performance.

  • Partner closely with the Lifecycle Marketing Manager and Loyalty Growth Marketing Manager to create best in class lifecycle communications.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills


  • 2 years of marketing experience, or related area.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, or an additional 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • Understanding of Responsys Interact (RI) and industry-specific software applications.

  • Ability to define segments and new audience types.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

  • Knowledge of email KPIs and experience using insight tools such as RI Insights, Tableau, and Omniture.

  • Ability to understand key campaign parameters – audience, program frequency, and creative approach.

  • Good understanding of database concepts and segmentation.

  • Ability and desire to learn quickly.

  • Capability to engage with stakeholders and understand the big picture.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction, while also functioning and contributing as part of a team.

  • Detailed oriented and highly organized.

  • Proactive, energetic personality; inquiring, investigative mind.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.


  • Experience with email tools (ReturnPath, Cheetahmail, Oracle Marketing Could, etc.) highly desired.

  • Knowledge of leveraging data science to benefit lifecycle programs highly desired.

  • Hands-on experience in email campaign building and list selection preferred.

  • Knowledge of key email marketing fundamentals, including can spam compliance, deliverability, spam complaint rates, A/B split testing, etc.

  • Understanding of HTML coding/email assets and the ability to troubleshoot with last-minute changes.

  • Familiarity with digital marketing industry best practices (e.g., inbound/outbound marketing, demand generation, etc.).

  • Ability to formulate test plans and report on findings.
