Role Summary

The Enterprise Analytics Program Director is the sole subject matter expert and thought leader in planning, execution, and overall management of analytic programs and product outcomes. As an individual contributor, this role designs and implements innovative solutions to act as the bridge between business strategy and technical execution of objectives, including defining and driving investment in analytic capabilities (BI reporting, real time analytics, and Data Science), adoption of data governance practices, and aligning stakeholders on approach and best practices at Alaska Air. The program director ensures that analytic products can be quickly and robustly deployed to drive business insights and overall company success.

Key Duties

  • Develops overall enterprise analytics program roadmap (tools, processes, data) and works with stakeholders to implement that strategy.

  • Works with business stakeholders to define core capabilities and tools needed support analytic products delivery and support.

  • Administers and maintains the analytics tools portfolio, including business relationships, training, tool deployment, and usage policies to achieve business objectives through BI reporting, real time analytics and Data science.

  • Identifies key areas to invest in to drive capabilities and speed of delivery of analytic products and develops and socializes business cases to secure investment.

  • Build strong partnerships with engineering, product management, and analytics leaders to drive focus on strategic and tactical program objectives.

  • Facilitate creation and prioritization of program-level features and backlogs.

  • Conduct planning sessions, managing stakeholders, outlining strategic project deliverables and coordination directly with product engineering and analytics leaders across the enterprise.

  • Function as the interface between data, product, operations, and engineering teams, driving coordination, alignment, road mapping and delivery of data and analytic products.

  • Work with analytics, product, and engineering teams to develop optimal cross-team delivery patterns and processes to deliver analytics products and insights at the speed of the business.

  • Accountable for driving execution and delivery of technical programs from start to finish.

  • Act as a central voice in developing, implementing, and supporting a set of Data Governance protocols and standards that create and sustain business value across the enterprise.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 10 years of experience in computer science, management information systems, business intelligence, or related analytics.

  • 4 years experience as a technical program manager, analytics manager, project manager or scrum master.

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Strategic minded with a strong understanding of current and emerging risks and proven ability to quickly understand complex operational processes, effectively scope assessments, and manage the dynamics of cross-functional technology and business teams.

  • Independently make and defend decisions based on priorities and compliance needs.

  • Technical proficiency in common operating systems, database management systems, and enterprise applications, with specific oversight of IT Controls (logical access, change management, operations), system implementations, cyber security, privacy, governance and compliance.

  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, data analytics, data engineering, and data modeling.

  • Experience with process design and AGILE practices.

  • Proven knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and tools.

  • Excellent communication skills, including experience presenting to executive level leadership and communicating complex ideas in an understandable manner to management.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Experience with Azure and/or Google Cloud.

  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts.

  • Proficiency using Databricks for data engineering, modeling, and deployment.

  • Strong business acumen and proven ability to influence and effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical leaders.

  • Detail oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
