Role Summary
The Catering Regional Compliance Manager is a subject matter expert in safety and compliance for our Catering Business Partners serving Alaska and Horizon. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions in developing and managing the safety and quality program that drives our safety culture, identifies emerging risks, mitigation plans and ensures training effectiveness & compliance. They will also be responsible for developing long term strategies, processes, and tools that lead to better transparency, partnership, and improved Catering Business Partner safety performance. They will work closely with our Alaska Safety Team, Business Partners and Supply Chain to find innovative solutions to enhance and promote the level of safety and flow of safety information, as well as best safety practices across partners.
Key Duties
Key responsibilities of the role will include:
Develops and maintains safety processes and systems within the Catering Group to build a comprehensive Business Partner Safety Program for Alaska & Horizon/
Enhance existing Business Partner safety standards for AAG
Create robust monitoring tools of business partner safety performance
Assess and implement (where feasible) a safety management system (SMS)
Conducts and manages investigations of all catering related safety events, and analyzes data to resolve issues and prevent future occurrences
Develops a program that evaluates Business Partner training programs for effectiveness and tracks employee record compliance
Accountable for the Catering Audit Program execution and compliance. Manages and mitigates low performing scores or emerging trends.
Create strong platform for Audit data export and trend analysis
Responsible for developing and executing Business Partner training record compliance program
Liaise with and influence key internal stakeholders to support Catering Business Partner Safety Program
Partner with Legal and Supply Chain to ensure standard safety language is adopted in business partner agreements
Partner with Quality Assurance leadership to perform ongoing observations of Catering Business Partners and implement program to track data outputs
Partner with Alaska Safety to ensure alignment on standards and integration with existing review board structure at Alaska and Horizon to ensure sharing of safety information
Primary safety liaison with Catering Business Partners.
Support the build-out and maturity of applicable safety systems
Ensure a single standard of safety expectations is maintained between Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air, and Catering Business Partners
Evaluates training programs for material effectiveness and record compliance
Create proactive visibility into key operational Catering Business Partner safety performance
Develops Catering Business Partner Safety Dashboard with standardized and equitable metrics
Establish governance with Catering Business Partners to review data and make recommendations that drive improved safety culture
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
4 years of experience in Aviation or related area.
Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant experience in lieu of this degree.
Outstanding ability to build deep relationships with critical internal and external stakeholders that result in ability to influence outcomes.
Experience in Airline management (preferably 14 CFR Part 121 Operator).
Experience in Airline Safety, Regulatory Compliance, or Quality Assurance.
Proven experience with Business Partner Management relationships and performance.
Domestic travel, up to 25% of the time, with occasional international travel.
Willing and able to conduct Kitchen Audits and Ramp Observations, sometimes for extended periods of time.
Ability to deliver presentations and speak to numerous work groups and training classes.
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
2 years of experience and knowledge of 14 CFR PART 5 – Safety Management Systems (SMS) programs and requirements.
2 years of experience with implementation of SMS programs in the aviation industry and detailed record keeping experience, to include creating audit checklists or forms.
Experience managing large, cross-departmental projects, processes, and procedures.
Experience mobilizing a cross-functional learning team with diverse backgrounds and varied levels of experience (e.g., setting clear expectations, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, and providing learning and career growth opportunities).
Excellent leadership skills including driving for results, identifying opportunities, and managing change. through leadership.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Certification in audit or compliance.

Salary Range
$92,700 -- $139,100 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
