Role Summary

The Senior HR Business Partner is a subject matter expert providing HR knowledge and support to address business challenges and provide strategic solutions in matters that may impact our employees at Horizon Air. As an individual contributor and exercising considerable judgement, this role also provides consultation to leaders and employees on HR strategy, programs, and services to support high performance and ensure alignment with company policies, procedures, leadership principles, and values. This role actively manages HR priorities in alignment with company goals, policies, and regulations and applicable laws to support employees and manage risk for the company.

Key Duties

  • Apply deep knowledge in human resources best practices to partner with business leaders to provide strategic solutions and support for organizational effectiveness, leadership development, engagement, workforce & succession planning, performance management, and training support.

  • Facilitate resolution of employee relations issues in alignment with cultural expectations; provide consultancy service to leaders on employee relation matters including discipline and discharge, harassment and discrimination complaint investigations, and safety reporting policies. This may include participation in investigations and consulting with leaders on how to investigate.

  • Manage projects to support various HR-related and cross functional projects, including development and implementation of company-wide people programs, ensuring that change management best practices are applied.

  • Consult with the business to apply org design principals and methodologies to maximize org effectiveness.

  • Champion HR initiatives and proactively maintain an open line of communication with managers and employees on HR service-related issues.

  • Provide guidance and feedback to assigned leaders regarding people-focused goals, objectives, and employee performance.

  • Partner with the Director HR, and divisional VP’s to analyze engagement data, communicate survey results effectively, and act to improve engagement, customer satisfaction, and leadership effectiveness.

  • Determine best approach to increase leader effectiveness and management skills through development, implementation and facilitation of leaders learning sessions, training, and communication.

  • Provide compensation support including review of salary actions and promotions.

  • Liaises with hiring managers and the recruitment department to ensure effective workforce planning, timely hiring, and compliance.

  • Partner with other internal HR departments to find solutions, create a great place to work, and to provide a hassle-free and world-class experience to internal clients, employees, candidates, and other stakeholders.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills


  • 4 years of Human Resources or relevant leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • General knowledge of performance management, employee practices, compensation, benefits, and rewards.

  • A proven ability to work independently and to prioritize competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to think conceptually, influence stakeholders, and develop strategies.

  • High energy, positive presence, and advanced written and verbal communication skills.

  • Innovative, apolitical, resilient, fact-based, and a creative solutions-focused mindset, with ability to thrive in a rapidly changing, collaborative environment and to manage conflict.

  • Demonstrated ability to seek out and incorporate feedback from all levels of the organization.

  • Experience supporting complex processes and projects.

  • Proven ability to leverage business acumen and analytic capability to position the HR organization as a change agent and key business partner.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other Microsoft products as well as common HR applications.

  • Able to travel as needed.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.


  • A minimum of 2 years employee relations/investigation experience.

  • Well-rounded experience in multiple core HR functions.

  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification.

  • Compensation knowledge or experience.

  • Experience with change manage
