Role Summary
The Senior IT Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Analyst is a subject matter expert in IT internal controls over financial reporting and leads the Controller department’s verification of IT SOX compliance annually for all of Alaska Air Group. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgement in leading testing of IT SOX controls on behalf of the Controller department, coordinates with the Company’s internal and external auditors, and reports on overall IT SOX status to key stakeholders within the business.
Key Duties
Assists and applies subject matter expertise in annual and ongoing scoping of IT applications, key reports, and application controls that are in scope for SOX testing.
Coordinates with control operators, Alaska IT teams, and internal and external auditors on IT SOX testing activities, including facilitation of support requests, attending walkthroughs, tracking completion of testing, and providing other support as necessary.
Performs testing over the design and operating effectiveness of relevant IT application controls and key reports utilized in the operation of manual controls on behalf of management.
Acts as the subject matter expert in the continued enhancement of the SOX program specific to the Company’s IT environment in response to changing audit requirements, changing processes, and changing technology within the Company.
Makes recommendations to address concerns in areas where process documentation improvements are needed, enhancements are required for existing IT application controls or key reports, and/or new IT controls need to be designed to develop solutions in response to risks in the process.
Provides consultation and subject matter expertise for IT control related matters including tracking and documenting audit findings, gaps, and evaluating severity of control deficiencies and related remediation efforts.
Manages and assists with projects impacting the team, including identification of risks and consulting on controls for newly implemented processes and applications.
Reviews and documents findings as part of the annual SOC-1 review process.
Serves as a valued advisor on all IT SOX related matters.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
3 years of experience in IT SOX audit, either in public accounting or internal audit, or 4 years of experience in IT SOX audit, in corporate accounting, internal audit, or public accounting.
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, accounting, or a related field.
Strong technical skills including SOX, IT Risks, IT Controls, GITC Processes.
Ability to partner across the organization (Finance, IT, Internal Audit, External Audit).
Ability to manage multiple projects and balance priorities in a rapidly changing, collaborative environment.
Ability to understand and breakdown complex ideas to support decision making.
Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Experience planning and executing IT SOX audit and special IT audits with focus on major project developments (SDLC), change management, access management, and key report and application control testing.
General IT Control (GITC) testing experience for ERP applications, SQL & Oracle DBs, Active Directory, and Linux, as well as PaaS and SaaS cloud environments.
Experience in communicating and presenting to management.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio.
A current Certified Public Accounting (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation preferred.

Salary Range
$97,200 -- $145,800 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
