Role Summary
The Senior Audit Data Analytics Specialist is a subject matter expert in data analysis and business intelligence that supports Audit programs across Alaska Air Group (AAG). As a shared service, the team works closely with Audit partners to identify risk, uncover insights, and drive strategic improvements. As an individual contributor, this role plays a key role in delivering high-impact analysis, dashboards, and decision support tools. This position independently performs data modeling, visualization, and integration across systems to support risk assessment and process evaluation. Strong storytelling and statistical practices are essential for communicating findings to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will create data visualizations grounded in statistical best practices, with an emphasis on effective storytelling that clearly communicates findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Duties
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify analytic needs, define requirements, and deliver actionable insights.
Independently develop, validate, and maintain complex data models, dashboards, and reports that support safety, risk, and compliance assessments.
Apply advanced statistical and analytical techniques to uncover trends, detect anomalies, and assess the effectiveness of operational processes.
Design and implement data quality checks and cleansing procedures to ensure integrity and reliability of analysis.
Serve as a subject matter expert in business intelligence tools and data platforms to drive self-service analytics across teams.
Translate complex data into compelling visual stories that inform strategic decision-making for internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
Support enterprise risk management efforts by delivering insights that evaluate the impact and effectiveness of internal controls and mitigation strategies.
Lead efforts to integrate new data sources and automate recurring reporting to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
Stay current on industry trends, emerging analytics tools, and best practices to continuously enhance the team’s capabilities.
Coach and mentor analysts, contributing to a high-performance and collaborative analytics culture.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
4 years of experience in an analytical role.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or Information Technology, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Thorough understanding of the business – both Audit Programs and the Airline.
Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large data sets.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of business intelligence functions, including analytics, data mining, reporting, report conversion, data cleansing, data modeling, and relational databases.
Demonstrated experience working with disparate data sources, data blending, and advanced database functions (e.g., database management functions).
Expert in visualization techniques, dashboard design, and decision support tools; experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
Modeling proficiency in cluster analysis and linear regression.
Proven conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in data query tools such SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), TOAD Datapoint, Alteryx, Access, Tableau, etc.
Passionate about business being done right with the ability to produce timely and accurate results.
A self-starter who takes ownership of their work and excels with minimal supervision.
Ability to work well under pressure and effectively manage multiple, concurrent tasks.
A strong disposition for customer service supported by excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
Willingness to learn from and return value to Audit stakeholders by working collaboratively with others and as part of a team.
Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development.
Demonstrated project management experience.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Experience using coding languages (e.g. C++, C#, VBA, Python, or R).
Basic optimization/simulation model development.

Salary Range
$88,350 -- $132,550 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
