Role Summary

The Manager of IFEC/AHM is responsible for executing the strategy for Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity, and Aircraft Health Monitoring at Alaska Airlines (AS). As a people leader, this role establishes strategic priorities and the successful implementation of key aspects of the onboard guest experience, including Inflight Entertainment and Inflight connectivity as well as monitors aircraft health using aircraft operational data to identify and report on reliability trends, technical issues, their root causes, and impact of potential solutions.

Key Duties

  • Serve as primary business owner for the IFE product offering and oversee all project implementation.

  • Oversee IFEC day to day operational support to meet SLA requirements.

  • Manages 3rd party vendors (OEM) on product reliability. Conduct monthly and quarterly business reviews with each vendor and set KPIs to drive meaningful discussion and action items to improve IFEC performance.

  • Work with OEMs, Maintenance & Engineering, and other stakeholders to implement OEM recommendations (SBs, SLs) for priority incorporation into the fleet.

  • Manage content strategy as defined by brand, budget and technology and work with content vendors to design and implement IFE programs.

  • Execute on strategy with a 12 month horizon.

  • Develop and improve processes for managing inflight entertainment across the company, including effective communication processes with frontline and onboard teams, vendors and stakeholders.

  • Ensure strategic integration of IFE and connectivity systems and experiences across the fleet.

  • Collaborate and strategize with Maintenance & Engineering and other internal teams as well as third-party vendors in product design and guest experience.

  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management

  • Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors

  • Serve as primary business owner for the Aircraft Health Monitoring product, overseeing project strategy and execution.

  • Develop and improve processes for managing and executing Aircraft Health Monitoring data across the company, including effective communication processes with Technical Operations teams, vendors and stakeholders.

  • Work with AHM service provider to create new alerts and action items based on fleet data and experience.

  • Collaborate with Reliability, Fleet Engineering, and Materials on any emerging fleet wide trends that need further investigation.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience in managing onboard airline guest experiences, Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity, Aircraft Health Monitoring or related engineering area.

  • 2 years of leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in engineering (preference is electrical, mechanical, or aerospace), or related field; or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Engineering management or team leadership experience

  • Demonstrated ability in cost management and P&L / budget oversight.

  • Knowledge of FAA regulations and oversight functions (for both aircraft and engine operating airworthiness certificates).

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Airline industry experience.

Salary Range

$146,400 - $219,600 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
