Role Summary

The Cargo Pricing Manager is the sole subject matter expert for all pricing activities for Alaska Air Cargo. As an individual contributor, this role is responsible for the development and execution of long term pricing strategies to maximize revenue and ensure competitive positioning in a dynamic international air cargo marketplace. This role balances comprehensive proactive and reactive pricing strategies to adapt to market changes and drive pricing excellence.

Key Duties

  • As the lead subject matter in Cargo Pricing, develop and implement comprehensive pricing strategies.

  • Define long term strategy for Cargo Pricing.

  • Exercise considerable latitude and initiative to solve competitive analysis and adjust pricing strategies based on market trends, competitive positioning, and future demand.

  • Utilize advanced data analytics tools to track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to yield, load factor, market share, and profit margin.

  • Collaborate with revenue management, sales, alliances, postal affairs, and operations teams to align pricing strategies with overall business goals.

  • Influence across the company at strategic planning meetings and contribute insights and recommendations on pricing trends, market outlook, and revenue opportunities.

  • As the lead subject matter expert in cargo pricing, maintain knowledge of current industry trends, economic factors, and regulatory changes affecting air cargo and the broader supply chain to influence across company and several levels up to executive leadership.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 7 years of years of experience in pricing, revenue management, capacity planning, or related experience.

  • A Bachelor’s degree, with a focus in mathematics, economics, business administration, IT, or related discipline or an additional two years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • Demonstrated In-depth understanding of revenue management and pricing principles and revenue optimization strategies.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, interpret and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Demonstrated expertise with analytical mining and reporting tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, Alteryx, SQL).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical customers, colleagues and executives.

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • 5 years of airline industry experience.

  • Experience with revenue management systems and software.

  • Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis and forecasting techniques.

  • In-depth knowledge of the air cargo industry and its market dynamics.

Salary Range

$117,500 - $176,300 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
