Role Summary

The Inflight Safety and Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting safety and regulatory compliance activities for the Inflight department at Horizon Air. This individual contributor role maintains the Safety Management System (SMS), supports the Inflight department’s reporting systems including aviation safety (ASAP) reports and irregularity reports, and analyzes trends and risks for all reports.

Key Duties

  • Support safety & compliance activities in the Inflight division by developing, implementing, and maintaining SMS processes.

  • Facilitate Safety Risk Assessments and participate in the Safety Risk Management (SRM) Task Force.

  • Conduct analysis to identify risks and trends, and coordinate after-action activities.

  • Participate in investigations and on the Event Review Committee (ERC) for the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) to review findings of non-compliance and act as a liaison with the FAA to conduct root cause analysis to identify process level breakdowns.

  • Serve as an expert of Inflight safety policies for other departments and divisions.

  • Assist with the content review of departmental manuals.

Additional Details

This role can be based in either PDX or SEA.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2 years of airline, administrative or safety related experience.

  • Ability to successfully complete 4 weeks of Flight Attendant Training (if not already qualified as a QX Flight Attendant) and maintain certification as a Flight Attendant.

  • Excellent communication (e.g., verbal, written, presentation) and collaborative skills.

  • Highly organized, with the ability to execute on multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with a strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to successfully work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment where flexibility is key.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 21.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Previous administrative, data entry, coordination, or related experience.

  • Experience with event investigations and root cause analysis.

  • Knowledge of Inflight policy and procedure.

  • Knowledge of FAA regulatory oversight processes.

  • Knowledge of SMS processes.
